One blurry photo from EHT, One giant leap for Physics!
We have seen what we thought was unseeable!
In April of 2017, a global web of eight radio telescopes located in six places—Chile, Mexico, Spain, Hawaii, Arizona and the Antarctic—collectively known as the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), began surveying the Messier 87 black hole, as well as the black hole at the center of our own Milky Way galaxy, and likely gathered very different data from each.
And on April 10, 2019 the world has paused to take in the sight of humanity’s first image of the strangest phenomenon in the known universe, a remarkable legacy of the general theory of relativity: a black hole.
When asked his thoughts at the moment he first saw the image of the black hole in M87, Sheperd Doeleman replied, “We saw something so true.” And it’s true for all of us.
This t-shirt was made to celebrate one milestone in modern science!
We are so proud of the team of EHT, that we wanted to make this t-shirt as a tribute for their amazing achievement!
Behind the whole project are people who once were kids looking queries at the night sky, just like me and you!
